Hail ToThe Chief!!

We as a nation are about to say goodbye to President George Bush. Personally for me it is a sad goodbye to a man that I believe to be full of integrity. A man that I believe to be a Patriot, a man who put what he believed the countries best interests first. And most importantly a man of solid faith.

I can hear the faint voices of many different anti-American groups that will continue to bash President Bush. Ridiculous groups like AfterDowningStreet.org. This is a liberal group that plans to conduct a rally that rally begins at DuPont Circle, followed by a march to the White House with shoes and combat boots planning on hurling them at the White House. This is a group that says they will insist that President Elect Obama have President Bush arrested on war crimes. I wonder if this group of anti-Americans has ever once said "Thank You" to President Bush for the more than 2500 days of safety.

I just wonder where this anti-American group was during the Monica Lewinsky days...didn't seem to even hear of them back then. If they care so much about the death of American (as they claim) why is it they are never protesting the places right here on our soil where innocent Americans are being murdered every single day...these places are called abortion clinics.

I would like to say kudos President Bush, I am proud to call you my president. I recognize that you had a very difficult presidency. I may not agree with every decision that you ever made but I will say that when there were tough decisions to make you never ran away from them. I believe that history will judge you to be a wonderful president.

Just as I have prayed for President Bush and his family I too will be praying for President Elect Obama and his family. I certainly did not vote for him but he is going to be my president and I want him to succeed. I am going to differ mightily in the way he does things and I will pray that he re-think many of his ideas and policies.

I also pray that we republicans do not become what we have despised over the last eight years. The easy thing to do is sit back and through criticism. The hard thing to do is get involved in making the country the best it can be. Republicans...please take the moral high ground and fully support President Elect Obama where you can and when you disagree with him disagree in a way that is not anti-American. We are in serious need of Unity and by-partisanship.

Farewell President Bush you will be missed by many, thank you for keeping us safe!! And also welcome President Obama I am praying for you and I want you to know that REAL Americans wish you the best.

We Must Stop Giving Ground!

Well it is that time of year again, No I am not talking about the Christmas Season that we as Christians celebrate the earthly birth of Jesus Christ. I am talking about the time of year when flaming liberals go out of their way to scare people into believing that political correctness is a law. The latest demonstration of this farce comes from the state of Washington.

From the AP
An atheist group has unveiled an anti-religion placard in the state Capitol, joining a Christian Nativity scene and "holiday tree" on display during December. The atheists' sign was installed Monday by Washington members of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a national group based in Madison, Wis.
With a nod to the winter solstice — the year's shortest day, occurring in late December — the placard reads, there is no god, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."

Ahh, political correctness…what a blessing! It is easier to be politically correct than it is to stand for what you believe. As Christians, we seem to often to allow ourselves to sit back and be dictated to by the world. After all, we don’t want to make waves, we don’t want to make Jesus look the God of the rebellious. I am not advocating storming the capitol of Washington with both barrels blazing, but I am advocating storming the capitol of Washington and any other capitol that makes ridiculous decisions like this with the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Let us remember that Jesus was not a timid man. He didn’t back down from doing the right thing (i.e. the clearing of the temple, eating with tax collectors and sinners). Jesus was not concerned with what was popular, He was concerned with what was right.

Church, get up off the floor and quit worrying about being getting beat down and stand up for what is right, after all Jesus has our back! In case you are interested the phone number for the Washington Governor Christine Gregoire is 360-902-4111. You may get stuck leaving a message like I did because they are either too scared or too ashamed to actually answer for their decisions.

You'll Shoot Your Leg Off

Stop me if you have heard this before. Seemingly week after week, sometimes even day after day we read of "high Profile" athletes getting themselves into wickets that are incredibly sticky. What is it that drives some of these athletes to be less than model citizens? Well maybe it is the pressure to increase their "Street Cred". The Urban Dictionary defines street cred as, "Commanding a level of respect in an urban environment due to experience in or knowledge of issues affecting those environments."

It seems that for every Steve Yzerman, Nick Lidstrom, Alan Trammel and Nate Robertson there are 10 Mike Vicks. The latest is Plaxico Burress, the talented wide receiver for the New York football Giants. Plax, as they call him, if you remember had an outstanding Super Bowl last year in which his team defeated the UN-beaten New England Patriots in an incredible upset.

However, since that special Super Bowl moment Plax, has taken it upon himself to no longer be a team player...Now it is all about Plax, being Plax. After skipping practice earlier this year and not having the decency to even phone the organization he displayed little remorse for his actions and then later had the audacity to tell Fox's Pam Oliver that his transgressions are "what makes Plaxico Plaxico."

Ralphie's mother knew exactly what she was talking about when Ralph wanted the Red Ridder BB gun. She new he would "shoot his eye out" and he did. My question is this, Where is Plaxico Burress's mother? This is from ESPN.com's Matt Mosley:
"Even by Plaxico Burress' bone-headed standards, this latest incident is a doozy. According to media reports, Burress was enjoying a glass of wine while handling a loaded gun in a Manhattan nightclub Friday night when he accidentally shot himself in the thigh."
I am sure that is exactly what happened. Oh, by the way he did not have a permit to carry the concealed weapon. Think about how bad this could have been? Shortly after the Super Bowl, Plax made it clear he would not report to the team until they "re-negotiated" his contract which they mistakenly did. And how did he re-pay the Giants for their generosity...

"On the first day of the regular season, the Giants gave Burress a five-year, $35 million contract extension, including an $11 million signing bonus. He has rewarded them by drawing over $200,000 in fines, being suspended for a game and benched for another."

By the way, good ole Plax was already on the shelf for last Saturday's game with a Hamstring injury...I can't help but wonder, if he felt good enough to be at a dance club, maybe just maybe he could have suited up to be of help to his team.

However that would not constitute Plax being Plax. This year during her Christmas shopping for her son I hope Mrs. Burress remembers to get him a tourniquet as a stocking stuffer, because the bleeding has to stop.

What are we thankful for?

As Americans we are experiencing some difficult financial struggles. I have witnessed more than a few friends lose their jobs due to this "economic downturn." One dear friend had his job of 28 years eliminated as his company closed the store. When I turn on the news it seems like all I am hearing is doom and gloom. So it makes me ask the question, during this hard time "what are we thankful for?" I pray that we are thankful for the fact that God is still God, that He is in control, no matter what the media or the world would try to have us believe.

I think that it is important that we wake each and everyday and say, "Thank you God, for being in absolute control, you provide exactly what I need. Your Word tells me to pay attention to the birds of the air and how well you take care of them...in your eyes I am so much more important than a bird, I was created in Your image, and I know you will care for me. Please forgive me when the human side of me forgets that. So I say again, thank you God."

As we prepare for Thanksgiving, let us remember the simple verse in Matthew 6:33, Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added.

For that alone I am thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving

How Can it Be Both Ways?

I am really struggling with Christians that are voting for a pro-choice candidate. I have had Christian friends tell me that there is more than one issue to vote on. I don't disagree however I do believe that as Christians we have a moral obligation to do the right thing. The tolerance of the church sickens me, and I include myself in that. We have stood and continue to stand almost silent as one by one the things that Scripture teaches us to value are stripped away.

Deuteronomy 30:19 tells us, "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." How we can stand quiet on issue like Gay Marriage and the sanctity of life is seriously beyond me. We are in a season that we seem to be focused on our economy more than other things. I certainly understand that things could stand to be better financially, I have friends that have lost their jobs recently and I know it puts a bind on things.

However, I feel we are trading what is moral for a chance at financial prosperity.
Seems to me that God's word says something about pleasing him or pleasing mammon, frankly I just cannot comprehend that. God tried to make it very simple for us. Matthew 6:33 says, " But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." So if I understand Him, if we first seek Him...He will meet all our other needs.

So I wonder, how can it be both ways?
